Presentation of the students of study programme chemistry at the international student workshop at Kopaonik
From 21-25 of May 2019, an international youth conference called „GEOSCIENCES APPLIED TO SOLVE HUMANITARIAN PROBLEMS WORLDWIDE“ was held at Kopaonik. Our students of 4th year have presented two papers. The work presented by Sunčica Sukur was on the subject of pyrophyllite mineral still not studeid enough, but for which there is a promising deposit, site in the area of Konjic. The Study programme Chemistry is studying this material through the Contract of Business and Technical Cooperation with the company „AD Harbi“. Colleague Sukur presented the results showing that maybe a fine-grained pyrofilite could be used as a powder for quick treatment of acidic wounds, since it has an alcaline chemical nature and a fine powder consistency. The second paper, which was presented by Mladena Malinović, is related to the chemical composition of water in Republic of Srpska. The paper discusses controversies in the legislation where surface waters are declared as non-acceptable for public bathing purposes if they have slightly increased sulphate content, and at the same time much higher content of sulphates in the waters is proven to favor the treatment of many skin diseases. The work is also based on cooperation with the Institute of Public Health and on the accredited data of this institution for the entire Republic of Srpska.
