Facilitated by the Bulgarian and Austrian EU Council presidencies, as well as by shifting European focus again towards the Western Balkans, the 2018 promise to be eventful for the region at many different levels. To name just few, we will see a new Enlargement Strategy prepared by the European Commission which is to be published in February; in May a Western Balkan Summit will be held in Sofia; in June/July the next Ministerial meeting of the Platforms on Education and Training & Research and Innovation will be organised; the Summer will also see the next meetings within the Berlin Process including the Joint Science Conference.
